Welcome to the official website of the Lions Club of Liskeard

The Liskeard Lions have been serving Liskeard and district for over 43 years. We run events throughout the year raising funds for local, national and international causes.

President Overview

I deem it an honour to have been designated as President of The Lions Club of Liskeard and I value the confidence in my appointment as elected by my fellow members.

My wife Jean and I have been significantly involved in the Club since we joined Lions, with particular emphasis on fundraising activities and the catering van. We will continue to have a contributing and participating role in these during my Presidency.

Whilst people recognise ‘Lions’ events in Liskeard, such as our Pantomime, Carnival Week, St Matthew’s Fair and the Bingo evenings; there is indeed lots more that our members participate in and contribute too.

Our (Lions) role is multi-facetted.  We have been instrumental within Liskeard in providing defibrillators to areas to the tune of over £13,000.  We support local organizations in their manning of events such as road closures and marshalling; provide essential supplies to scouts, sports clubs, organisations and sponsor individual training.

This may be through providing and manning our catering van; making up hampers and prizes.  Baking and selling cakes, organising our Carnival Royalty or ensuring Santa has his sleigh in good condition at Lights-up and at requested events are valued achievements.

It is all a team effort.

Lions Club of Liskeard value your contribution.  Without you, without your participation, attendance, feedback and every penny of donations, events will fail and we would not be able to continue as a charitable organisation.

What has been evident in the time since Jean and I have been with the club is the valued enthusiasm for events.   Your phenomenal response on Social Media supports our ethos; that ‘FUN’ is what it is about.  You make a difference.  Please keep your constructive comments coming via our Facebook page or website.

Wheelchairs & Walking Aids

The Lions Club of Liskeard have purchased wheelchairs that are regularly serviced and available free of charge for dedicated short term use.

These wheelchairs have proved invaluable to holidaymakers and residents that require an interim solution to getting around and visiting sights and events.  They may also facilitate attendance at a specific occasion, function, hospital appointment or to support during a post-operative recovery.
They are transportable in a car boot, but we respectfully ask that all security features such as footplates and arms are used at all times. This is free of charge.  On occasions some people have asked to make a donation.  This is not compulsory.

Should you want to make further enquiries, please contact us either via this website or on our Facebook page?

What we do

Common sense and a sense of humour are two traits found in abundance among members of Lions clubs, whatever the weather.

Our main activities are:

  • The annual Pantomime in January
  • The Carnival in June/July
  • St Matthew's Fair on the Saturday before the first Wednesday in October!

We have a catering van with which we support various events throughout the year

Supporting Community Activities

When it comes to making things happen in local communities, we assist with road closures, traffic control, marshaling, car parking and provide catering facilities as well as putting on our own events. We help other organisations with their activities and may reciprocate to help ours.

Lions Clubs International

The Lions Club of Liskeard is part of Lions Clubs International which is the largest service club organisation with 1.4 million members and over 46,000 clubs around the world. Lions support good causes in their area with every penny raised going to those good causes.
